Joyous
My parents will be visiting from UK and my dad needs regular blood tests. Would an Australian GP be able to see him and refer to tests although without medicare? TIA
Guest The Pom Queen
Hi @Joyous welcome to the forum. Yes your dad could go to any GP he would probably have to pay though if he doesn't have a temp medicare card.

LKC
My mother-in-law had to see a GP whilst she was here. From memory, because she didn't have a medicare card she had to pay up front at the doctors, but then went to medicare and was able to claim a proportion of it back (due to the reciprocal arrangement between the UK and Aus). boganbear
Yes my stepmum did the same thing. It was more of a pain getting the money back and they paid it into my Aussie bank account. Medicare were pretty efficient and helpful.
